« on: 03 Aug , 2017, 08:52 »
Direct from Pontos:
U-505 detail set to be ready for September 2017.

Their first U-boat set for VIIC #72001F1 was very nice:  http://pontosmodel.com/html/72001f1.html

Wow. Looks like a nice complete set.

Is this the only sub set that they have done?

I just went to their site, and they have the set for the 1/72 Type IXC!!!

Hi Tim,

No opinion yet, as it looks like it still not yet ready for retail sale.
If it's anything like their VIIC set, it will be good.

Have not heard an update yet from my wholesaler. Waiting.....

Glenn hope to see pics etc from you after you get it in.   I guess that better words would be, after you see what are your thoughts on it as to the fact we get to see pics from their website

Around 2:30pm 05/02/18 got a call from my wholesaler to check on my order as the next pontos sets coming in were going up a lot in price.
If you were/are thinking about buying a set ---- do it asap.

Good Luck

HobbyDecal... the store linked to Pontos... still has those 2 sets listed at 140 and 160, respectively.

That's why if you are thinking about it, use the links in Glenn's reply, asap. The next shipment in from Korea should have the new prices. My wholesaler did not have any in stock and had to order them in. They are using the new shipment price. I'm sure there will be discounting from the new higher prices as it is.
But get them now if you are thinking about it or be ready to deal with the price increase. I've ordered mine.

And looking forward to getting them. Thanks Glenn on the heads up on what should be a great detail set.

Well my wholesaler finally got their Pontos shipment in and got my order in also and shipped them to me. They got here today 6/26/18.
Wow what a large group of stuff. Like almost all of the upgrades that you could get for a type in one box and well done at that.
Received the Pontos 72001F1 Type VIIC set and the Pontos Type 72001F2 Type IXC set. The Type IXC is for a later Type IXC (has one or more U-505 items, special). On both sets the Brass turnings looks great. The pe looks good. Directions, well the VIIC has 6 Large pages with lots of detail, same for the IXC (10 pages), looks outstanding. I only hope that my skills will be up to the task when I finally start in.
Pics of everything, well the links in this thread will show you everything that you need.  Thanks Glenn for letting us know about these detail sets.
Now one very interesting thing, the Deck. If you have a http://nautilusmodels.com/ deck then you are in for a very Small surprise with the Protos decks. Very Thin, well detailed, but thin, very thin. I'm thinking glue over the other deck thin. Not replace but add over. Anyone else on this?
Well I'm happy I bought this group. I Keep on planning, need to do some more building.
Have a great one.
