Aft buoyancy tank
« on: 20 Nov , 2017, 01:52 »
Hi everybody,
as you can imagine, I steadily look at the work of many modelers. Yesterday I saw how a modeler had done the structure of the aft buoyancy tank and MBT1 ( see the posted photo ); I'm not sure that the shape he made is correct or incorrect: I'd like to have your opinions....
I post some drawings I have...
I hope in your help.
Thanks in advance.
Filippo

Thanks David, I already know your model, and I saved on my computer an entire folder of photos of your building report.
Did you base your construction of the stern section on the David Westwood's drawings ? Or did you use others ?
Thanks anyway for help....

Sorry i am not 24 hours online  :P

i based my construction on the drawings of the book (Vom original zum Modell )you postet this drawing already in your first post .
i can not guarantee that my interpretation are 100 % correct but it fits well so it has to be at least close to the original .

you can check the 3d drawings of NZ Snowman here in the main Typ VIIC post.
You should get the book (E.Rössler deutsche Uboote und ihre Werfen Band 1 ) there are all inside what you need many pictures of building german submarines in ww 2 .

yes i know but this problems all submarine builder or people to try to investigate have ,there are some parts of the subs where are not a singel picture existing so you can only try to figure out how it was done that time .
Mainly for all parts below the deck there are very few pictures around .
i can only tell you take more pictures from books as reference then the U995 in laboe to many changes where made duringt the duty in the norwegian navy or during restoring process on this boat .

Thanks David, you are right about U-995, but, unfortunately, is the only one Type VII with all interiors visibile, and so I am obliged to use it as reference for my model...
Anyway, thanks for your help...you are the only one that replies to my question....

Thanks Snowman,
although not useful for my purpose ( nothing about stern section structure ), your drawings are beautiful....
