Hi Ernest,

Wonderful job on the He 219 and the diorama. Love the engine!

I can't recall if I asked you this before. Is your forum name "Grief" - does that come from the Heinkel 177 Grief? I know MPM made a 48th He 177 which would make a nice model.

Cheers,

Dougie

Thanks for the kind comments guys.  This one turned out pretty well, though, as always, there are a few mistakes here and there.

Dougie, my forum name is german for the mythical Griffin.  One of its uses in heraldry is to represent military courage and leadership.  Being both a retired soldier and of german stock I thought it was a pretty neat way to combine the two.

Hi Ernest,

That's a good choice for your forum name. I wish I'd put some thought into mine - it is just my name and my favourite boat (U 47) :)

Have a good New Year,

Dougie

3 things -

Ladder - it looks good, nice to see it there. Makes it real. (If I dug and dug for things to find..could it be dirtier and abused? worn treads?

Concrete - love the angle (that you have take a "slice" at an angle and placed it on the wooden base)

Antennas - can you imagine flying with that many large aerials and tubing things sticking about? It would be a distraction!

Beautiful, fantubulous job

Hi Wink, thanks for the comments!

Ladder:  Good eye concerning the ladder.  I could do a bit more work on it to give it a more used look.

Base:  I used a scriber to cut grooves into some Evergreen plastic stock after I had glued it to the base.  FYI, if you ever plan to make your own hardstand using this technique, always scribe the grooves at an off angle because doing so at right angles looks very shabby.

Antennas:  Not to mention the performance hit caused by the drag.
