New kits from Trumpeter
« on: 20 Jan , 2010, 13:24 »
Hi gents,

A list of forthcoming releases by Trumpeter -

http://www.sammlervz.net/nwsIndex.php?action=NwsView&nId=2704

Some REALLY interesting additions! One that caught my eye was a 1/200th USS Arizona (3 foot long!). Knowing Trumpeter's like for large sized kits do you think they might release other battleships in this scale? I'm thinking/hoping of a 1/200th scale Bismarck, which would be very cool.

They are expanding their range of 1/32nd aircraft - an A-6, Harrier GR.7, Su25 and Mig 23 included in the new kits. Also a 1/24th Stuka! Presumably this is a new kit and not a copy of the old Airfix kit?

Cheers,

Dougie

This sounds great!  I really like 1/200 scale for naval subjects and the Arizona sounds like a very nice kit.  The Nichimo IJN destroyers in 1/200 scale are some of my favorites along with the submarines.  Although an old kit, the I-19 is very well detailed and highly accurate.  1/200 is not the most popular scale for vessels but perhaps Trumpeter could change this with some new offerings?

Cheers,

Bill

Hi Bill,

This is just a guess. But I think that if sales of the 200th Arizona go well, then Trumpeter may opt for a whole range of 200th scale battleships. They did release a 350th Nimitz and a 350th Yorktown so they have plenty of experience releasing plastic ship models of around 3 foot in length.

I'm hoping they go one stage further and go for a 1/32nd scale Lancaster...but I think I'm dreaming too much!

Cheers,

Dougie

A 1:32 Lanc? And a B-17 and B-24 in the same scale? Good Lord !! I've died and gone to heaven. There could even be a B-29 in the pipeline!!!

A 1/32 B-29 would be very large and impressive.  Where to display something this big?

You know, I am thinking of building the Trumpeter 1/350 Hornet Aircraft Carrier kit for a future project in the next couple of years.   I have read alot of very good reviews on the kit and lately I have considered building a carrier for a long time, never having built one before.  I'll probably buy the kit this fall, and then we'll see how long I can resist its call!

CV would be very cool. Has everyone seen the 16 foot (YES "foot") model by Gabriel Suranyi? 1:72 scale complete with aircraft! See the CV sub-forum for link.

Hi gents,

Looks like the 200th scale Arizona by Trumpeter is going ahead -

I guess more than a few modellers around the world have a big fat smile on their face right now.

Cheers,
