Title: Fictional Submarine "Narwal"
Post by: OldNoob on 14 Oct , 2015, 06:36
Some time ago i built a 1:100th paper model of the fictional Victorian submarine "Narwal"
Like the one pictured here.

PDF can be purchased at: http://www.tin-soldier.com/vsfsub3.html (http://www.tin-soldier.com/vsfsub3.html)
I also suspect the PDF is floating out on the internet and can be found for free.
The model was actually a very nice easy build that yielded a very pleasing looking model at about 24.5 inches long.

Ive been toying with the idea of up-scaling it to 1:72 and building it out of wood and aluminum soda cans and possibly detailing it more with improved spillways and railing along with other details that would make it appear more like an actual pre-WW1 submarine.
However, at 1:100 that would mean that a full size is somewhere over 200 feet long, about the same length as the the VIIC. However just judging by hatch size and other proportional designs, it looks like it actually is closer to 1:72 the way it is. Or maybe 1:86th or even HO scale.
However being fictional and the design of one man there is nothing fixed in stone about it.
What are your thoughts on this?
