Title: FORUM CRASH
Post by: Rokket on 11 Dec , 2013, 03:30
Howdy folks. The host upgraded software and crashed us, but we're back. The December backup was unstable so we are restored to November, with some temporary graphics from the old days.

We may be able to restore posts some day. New members - apologies, first crash in 5 years - please rejoin!

Too bad (btw: I can't find any of my postings since 3 months back, so I reckon the backup from november wasn't that good either..?).

Hi wink,
Great work on managing to recover anything.
Can I suggest a Revell Type IX c child board, as I think there seems t be significant interest.

Howdy All,

thanks muchly for the kind wishes.
Natter - sorry your posts went, we're investigating. The master file exists until the day of the crash, but it has weirdness so restoring is dangerous. Anone registered after Nov 6 is gone too, and again the rstoring is filled with "poison" so the easiest is to rejoin.

The crash was a software upgrade by the host. In testing it was "exceptionally rare" they said, for there to be a problem going from php 4 to 5.5...well, AMP fell into that tiny percentage. There were weird files and some corruptions, and no actual explanation for the crash. Our hired expert fixed things as best as possible, but he's puzzled why it happened and is concerned to tinker much more without knowing the specific cause. Hopefully this was our last problem...

on to restoring some graphics and layouts!

Glad you're back folks!

Capt K - sounds good to me, easy to do...once I sort some things out!
