Hi,
a small update. The instrument cluster and the controls for the trim pumps with their knobbed levers are finally ready after two months of hard work. 0.2 brass tubing for the cylindrical parts, 0.046 mm wire for levers and frame. Instrument cluster: depth gauge and compass = very thin sections of 0.2 mm brass wire and tubing. 0,1 "dots" of alu foil for the gauges on the right (ammeters and voltmeters). Enjoy

Cheers,

SG

Not much to report, decided to remove the paint job from the flat-bed with nail polish remover. I was not happy, it irritated me.
Some parts broke off, i was allreay aware of that would happen.
Also working on the new tech-rack for the U-47, there is little malfunction in the electronics.
The servos are nervous, in the neutral state. More on that later.

Paint job almost removed.

Vallejo wheaterings set.

And these models for a future project are on my most wanted list, a littlebit expensive. I have to think about it.

Regards,

Ron.

Many years (decades) later, I found it while cleaning stuff out of my mother's house. I ended up using it as practice for painting something very rusty. I liked how it was coming out, so I added a base to create a vignette showing it at the bottom of the ocean. I added a shark from the old Revell Calypso kit and a brass plaque stating that it was on it's "last patrol."

Here is a model I built a while ago. There is a bit of history that goes along with it.

It is the old Nichimo 1/200 scale kit that I built as a kid back in the 1970s. Being a kid, I did it using the electric motor power option. I actually ran it in the pool a lot, but could never get the battery cover to seal up properly, so it sank a lot. Eventually the motor seized up tight and it just would not go any more. So I installed a firecracker in the battery compartment and "depth charged" it in the neighbor's pool. BOOM! It was quite spectacular! Some pieces even landed on the roof. I collected all the parts I could, glued them back together, put everything in a plastic baggy, and forgot about it.

Does anyone know where I can get some accurate decals for the U-505 on its last patrol? I know the kit decals are wrong, and the AMP site is closed down.
